This is Sandtler's flame retardant special thread, part number 061005B, made from 100% aramid fibre comparable to Nomex. It is not a race suit: it is a consumable sewing thread used to attach patches or repair and process fireproof motorsport clothing such as race suits, underwear and balaclavas.
Each spool runs 700 metres and withstands short-term heat up to 360°C, remaining non-melting and self-extinguishing. It is the correct thread to use when repairing or customising FIA-rated garments without compromising their flame resistance.
